Build Quality:

A high quality overdrive pedal proudly made in the U.S.A by Pro Tone Pedals in Charleston South Carolina with plenty to offer for any high gain player. The aesthetics are very impressive and features artwork by "Mister-Sam" Shearon. You can tell a lot of effort was put into the artwork and making sure the clear coat was applied perfectly! The LED is extremely bright which is perfect for live performances. The chassis is made of machined aluminum, and is very light weight compared to commercial manufactures which is a plus in my opinion.

Tonal Qualities:

The Jeff Loomis OD pedal features the legendary JRC4558 IC Chip that most of us know and love. It features a toggle switch which enables two modes. The "up" position is extremely transparent, and adds a subtle tightness to the overall tone while retaining a lot of the natural low end from the original signal. It’s also extremely smooth but adds an aggressive texture to the tone when front ending a high gain amp. The JL Overdrive sounds like the unneeded frequencies were eliminated to fit perfectly in the mix. It's easy to work with when recording or performing live in the metal application. When the toggle switch is in the "down" position the low end saturates the entire signal almost overwhelming at first but when given a little time for the ears to re-adjust. The down position really gives you a lot of body for lead tones or wanting to achieve a rounder/fuller tone for rhythms. The potentiometers have been tuned to allow a smooth transition when sweeping through the tone ranges to dial in that perfect setting for your rig.

Conclusion:

I really enjoyed this pedal and have been using it in my studio ever since. It’s well balanced and is extremely flexible for multiple genres. I give it a

9 out of 10!
